June 26th, 2013

When Ernie came back from Guadalajara at the end of January disquiet was in his soul.  He talked about the work going on there with excitement and enthusiasm.  His disquiet turned into serious discussion about returning to the foreign field.  We talk to our kids and began to quietly look into options.   The first step Ernie took was to give his resignation at Steinbach Bible College - after 13 years of teaching missions.
In June we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Costa Rica.  While the point of this vacation was our anniversary, we spent 3 days with mission organizations, talking about their work, and the possibility of joining them.  After this trip we talked and prayed about what God wanted us to do.  Ernie’s passion is church planting and we just felt he was leading us to join the existing church plant going on in Guadalajara.
So, in early September, we went before the board of the Evangelical Mennonite Conference for the third time.  We had been there before, when we went to Nicaragua, then again when we went to Chihuahua, Mexico, and found ourselves there again, with hopes of going to Guadalajara.  We were accepted shortly after that meeting.

Plans were soon put into motion to leave on January 3rd for Guadalajara.
